Provide Constructive Feedback as a Leader
This article will cover some ways to provide effective feedback to your teammates. To provide feedback to your fellow teammates you don’t necessarily have to be high up on the corporate ladder, but of course, the assumption is the further you are in the seniority ladder, the more wisdom you have to share. I will share my wisdom from the 2 years of experience I have as a software engineer. Though, these points can be applied to any industry leader.
The goal of providing fruitful feedback to your fellow teammates is to improve the team’s morale. By helping a few of the many teammates you have will help the team stay strong. Perhaps this analogy might help: in a non-distributed blockchain if one of the nodes is corrupted then the entire blockchain is useless. Similarly, in a small team: if one of the teammates in your team isn’t performing well, then it takes a toll on the entire team’s productivity and as a result, the entire team suffers.
How to provide valuable feedback?
Be Direct and not be Brute
Tell them that their approach to achieving “the task” is not the most productive. While providing feedback try not to sound condescending, as to some it might ding this way. Instead of being direct, you can give them a reason why “the best” approach can help them save time and make it clear that you do not have a negative demeanour towards them.
Provide Compliments
Shower your teammate with compliments when they do a well-done job, when you see them putting in their soul into their work, and when you see them working extra hours to help their team and their company achieve the pinnacle of success. Compliment your workers with overtime pay when they work after hours. Compliment them even on their small milestones. Speaking from my experience, I do not need compliments, but receiving them makes me happier and makes me want to work extra hard.
That’s all folks! Hope you loved this small article and clap and subscribe if you liked this :)
